Stars was commissioned by Carlos Miguel Prieto and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería. It is conceived as a modern day tone poem, and also serves as a companion piece to an earlier work of mine, La Luna Azul.
In this case, Stars picks up where La Luna Azul left off. The piece begins in a very gentle and quiet manner, and eventually becomes more rhythmic and uplifting. It is inspired by different constellations, and is designed to capture random patterns that one might see when navigating our sky at night. The orchestration transforms throughout, trying to create an infinite sense of ever changing colors.
Stars is dedicated to Carlos Miguel Prieto.
